What causes skin peel on the fingers right below the nails?

I heard a while back that it%26#039;s due to a lack of a certain vitamin in the body but I forgot which. Any idea?|||I don;t know about the vitamin thing, I think you need to keep your hands moisterized. Use lotion on your hands regularly and work it really good around the fingernails.
