What kind of skin infection causes red rings and a swollen finger?

I stuck myself with a sewing needle trying to get a splinter out. Instead I infected myself with something. My middle finger is very swollen and has a red ring around a yellowish circle that I believe is the infection. Does anyone know what it could be? Please help....|||I have some advice for you,go to the doctor.They shall make it better,doctors are your friends!:D|||Who knows...but you need to get it out...soak your finger in 1tbsp salt and 1 cup water.. Then squeeze all the puz out....soak again...and let it be.
